ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT LEARNING THROUGH PORTFOLIOS, A CAPSTONE PROJECT!

CADH students that entered the program in October 2011 began our new curriculum, which required that they develop, by the end of the program, a student portfolio. Portfolios are used as an assessment tool that demonstrates how individuals have attained knowledge, skills, and personal growth over time.
Students at CADH presented their portfolios to faculty and peers. These portfolios were very well received. Each student demonstrated, through his/her own personal engagement in the program, using assignments, course content, tests, and authentic experiences how s/he had within the program, met the program competencies. These competencies are based on the National Dental Hygiene Competencies for dental hygienists across Canada.
