Develop the Skills You Need in a Reputable Dental Hygienist Training Program

Like most specialized careers, success starts with quality training. Our Dental Hygiene Diploma Program has been approved by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities and accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC). We prepare students for the demands of a fast-paced dental clinic through our rigorous program. Our curriculum covers all the fundamentals of contemporary, entry-level dental hygiene practice, including clinical practice, dental hygiene pharmacology, dental hygienist periodontics, community dental health, nutrition, research, and more.

To become a dental hygienist, start with quality training.

After 79 weeks of diligent study, you will have developed a solid knowledge base, but theoretical knowledge alone does not guarantee effective practice. In our dental hygienist training, we provide the opportunity for you to perfect your skills before entering the workplace. Lessons occur in bright, modern, state-of-the-industry facilities where students can use the computers located at each dental hygiene operatory, six intra-oral dental hygiene operatories, and a digital panoramic machine.

Hone Your Skills With Practical Experience During Dentist Hygienist Training

As part of your consolidation, in the fourth and final academic level of our dental hygienist program, you will be able to integrate the principles, skills, and techniques you’ve accumulated during the first three levels. You can put your skills to the test in approved facilities like nursing homes and shelters to prepare to meet the demands of your future dental hygienist career. During the practical component of the program, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions as they come up, examine real teeth up close, and build your CV.

Upon graduation, you’ll be fully prepared to register with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO), the regulatory body responsible for the safe and effective practice of dental hygiene in Ontario. Registration involves passing an entry-to-practice examination which verifies your qualification and competency. Throughout your career, various professional development activities will be required to ensure that you consistently deliver quality dental hygiene services to the public.

Start Your Job Search After Completing Dental Hygienist Training

Most dental hygienists work in dental offices where they clean teeth, evaluate the oral health of patients, and offer maintenance solutions. That being said, there are other exciting workplaces to explore, and with additional education, various opportunities for advancement and specialization are available. For example, you can work as a clinical dental hygienist, start your own independent dental hygiene practice, or work in public health, education, research, product development and distribution, and other healthcare settings.
