Stress is something that we all feel. As students, the level of stress can be heightened to such a degree that it can have a negative impact on your success. Over the years, I have worked with students to help them overcome the stress they feel while they navigate through the program. The strategies that I find, and are probably recommended by others for success include:
- Develop a?tunnel visiona by focusing on your goal, which is to successfully complete the program. Do not let others divert your focus (ex: hypotheticals, negativity, taking on other peopleas issues).
- If you work, ensure that your work schedule is manageable so it does not impact on your school schedule and workload.
- Manage your time by scheduling adequate time in your day and week for reviewing course material, studying for tests and working on assignments.
- Create a visual of your daily and weekly plan by putting it into a calendar, whether it is written or on your computer for easy reference.
- Having a?downa time for non-school related activities such as exercise, relaxation, and family.
- Get enough sleep so you are at your best mental acuity, especially before tests and examinations. This will help you think clearly and lead to better outcomes on your assessments.
