July was a month of celebration for a number of CADH graduates. After completing an intense program and earning themselves a much coveted degree in dental hygiene, these former students are now entering a new chapter in their professional careers; the job search. Searching for employment opportunities has often times been described as a full-time job itself. A prestigious educational background, a good resume and persistence are keys to landing that much anticipated interview. For some, the job interview is the most challenging element of the entire job search process. An interview is much like an audition and can be stress inducing, to say the least. Below are some helpful tips to keep in mind before and during the interview process:
Before:
-Breathe! Try to find a quiet place to relax and take deep controlled breaths to control nerves.
-Remind yourself that the interviewer is likely feeling nervous and on-the-spot. They have an impression to put forth as well.
-Go over your resume and any other job-specific material and then put it away. Rehearsing is key but itas also important to come across natural.
During:
-Be punctual. Try to give yourself a little more time than you think necessary, just as a precaution.
-Dress for success! Keep your interview attire professional and your appearance tidy.
Like anything in life, first impressions are important. Be sure to smile, be polite but most of all, yourself. Let your personality shine!
Good Luck!!!
