When it comes to our dental hygiene we often put the emphasis solely on the dentist. However, a successful dental practice is nothing without the auxiliaries who aid the dentist. One equally important job is that of an intra-oral dental assistant. Dental assisting is more than just passing instruments to the doctor. In fact, dental assistants are highly trained individuals who have a wide range of functions from obtaining patient information to preparing dental materials and maintaining infection control. Without the intra-oral dental assistant, the doctor cannot function effectively and efficiently. A�Therefore, it is important that dental assistants are fully trained in every aspect of the dental practice.
One such school that offers the opportunity to excel in the dental field is The Canadian Academy of Dental Health and Community Sciences. The benefit of attending CADH is that you have different options to choose from in the dental field; both courses equally preparing you for a future in dental health. Many prefer to take the intra-oral dental assisting levels I and II first and then pursue dental hygiene at a later time. Whatever choice is made, the programs are equally challenging and they are both excellent and progressive careers.
So what can you expect? To become an Intra-Oral Dental Assistant certain certifications and licenses are required to practice along with a basic knowledge of what is to be expected in the field. Dental Hygiene, on the other hand, is more in depth due to the licenses, knowledge, and the skill level required.A� The dental hygiene program is 20 months in duration. To obtain a diploma in Intra-Oral Dental Assisting successful completion of the 42-week program is required.A� Regardless of what program you choose ,every position is an important one.
