Information on Admissions
Dental assisting training at the Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene welcomes students with two intakes per calendar year: March and September. To provide students with extensive training in dental hygiene and practices, our program consists of 1070 hours of training over the course of 42 weeks. Students gain a thorough understanding of different procedures and equipment to prepare them for direct entry into a career in a professional dental practice. For students interested in gaining an insight into the facilities at the academy, admissions tours are currently available from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 5 pm. All applicants who are ready to start their career in an interactive and technical field should consider exploring the opportunities with our specialized program.
A Look at Our Program Requirements
Applicants to the Intra-Oral Dental Assistant Level I & II Program are encouraged to apply as early as possible to ensure they secure a space in the program. The Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene welcomes all qualified applicants from across Canada, the United States, and abroad to join our training. To qualify for admissions, applicants must hold a Grade 12 diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
Mature Students without these qualifications may apply for assessment through a Mature Student Aptitude test (Wonderlic SLE) and a Personal Aptitude Assessment. This ensures that students of all levels have the opportunity to extend their skill set. In addition, applicants must submit proof of certification in First Aid and Basic Rescuer in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR Level C). This certification should be obtained in the year of the scheduled start date and renewed yearly while in the program.
