The management of CADHAis alwaysAsearching for helpful and healthy ways of improving all aspects ofAthe lives of our employees as well as the student body.AMaintaining good health and a positive outlookAfor the duration of Athe programs offerred at CADH, whether the program isAthe Intra-Oral Dental Assistant or theAAccredited Dental Hygiene program, optimum health is the key to success!AAs most of us are aware, colors play an important and fundamental role in many aspects of our healthy lives.AAColorsAare known to be mood enhancers, food regulators and fashion icons in their own right! As noted in Prevention magazine (May 2012), here are a few fun, healthyAand helpfulAtidbits of information on some of our most favourite colors!
RED!
CreateAaArosy outlook! Sniffing scents with linalool, a compound found in (red) roses, can reduce the activity of stress-activated genes, according to animal research.A Next time your nerves are frayed, apply lotion with rose notes…
GREEN!
Green light provides a calming sensation! It is also a headache helper! Did you know that sniffing green apple may ease a migraine? In one study, when people in the midst of a migraine attack smelled the scent, their pain lessened more than when they weren’t smelling anything! Also, smelling rosemary may help you improve your memory, according to research from the University of Northumbria in the United Kingdom.
YELLOW!
Rise and Shine! Start your day off “bright” with yellow; the sunny hue is associated with happiness and a positive emotional state…
BLUE!
Wear this color to make a good impression-it is universally liked, according to research from the University of Manchester in the UK-“it makes you seem trustworthy” says…director of the Color Association of the United States! Important to note as well is that snacking on blueberries can help reduce the appearance of any black-and-blue marks.A The berries contain flavonoids and vitamin C, which together improve blood circulation to reduce swelling, as well as proanthocyanidins, which help to strengthen the walls of the capillaries that are weakened by bruising.
ORANGE!
Carrot extract, the root of good skin, is a double-duty beautifier for your complexion providing moisture and antioxidants that protect your skin long-term! Also, bright orange sea buckthorn berries are a proven skin hydrator and wound healer!A Lastly, and with summer in full swing these days, munch on foods high in beta-carotene and carotenoidsA(such as orange bell peppers)-they can tint skin slightly over time, and the subtle color change looks better (and is a lot healthier!) than that caused by the sun.
